Kristin (aka: Toots or Mom)

No No No... She didn't get her name from Tooting.

Once upon a time when Kristin was little, her parents would read her a storybook, Tootles the Train, which Kristin would often blurt out, Toot Toot. Let's just say the name stuck.

As mother and wife, Kristin's role in our productions is often that of show runner and gaffer. Our productions often require us to hit the road and without Kristin... well, I 'm sure you can only imagine.

Kiki the Camera Girl
Kierra (aka: Kiki or Ki) has won the hearts of many.

You'll never see Kierra in front of the camera, but you'll hear her witty commentary, and catch a glimpse of her hand from time to time as she waves goodbye or gives a thumbs up to her father, MrLeisek when she films the YouTube series, Adventures with Purpose.

She makes one heck of a camera girl and we're lucky to have her.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the coolest thing you've ever found?
We really like the story of finding an Urn that was accidentally dropped in the river 6-years earlier with the ashes still inside. (watch here)

After tracking down an obituary article using the name on the side of the Urn, we were able to locate the family and return the Urn so they could scatter the ashes proper and finally have closure.
Have you ever found a body?
Not yet, but with as much diving as we do in the locations we visit, it's bound to happen.
What's the creepiest thing you've ever found?
We found a head in the Deschutes River in Bend Oregon. Full disclaimer, it's not a real head, but creepy nonetheless. (watch here).
How deep can you dive?
As a recreational diver, you can safely dive down to 130 feet. If you want to get into tech diving and deeper dives, you'll need additional training.
What ever happened to the .22 pistol you found?
We spoke with the Sheriff Deputy about a month after we found the gun with the serial numbers scratched off in the river, and he said the .22 pistol had been linked to a few crimes, but could not give any further details. (watch here)
Did you get to keep the shotgun you found?
At this time we are still waiting for clearance to claim the Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun as found property. There is a paperwork process we have to go through, but as it stands right now, it looks like it will become ours. (watch here)
How long were the two AR-15 rifles underwater?
The police report says the guns had been stolen 12-years earlier. Based upon the rust and growth on the guns, we'd say they were dumped in the lake about the same time they had been stolen.
What do you do with all the phones you've found?
Out of the 53 phones found so far, only 5 of them still worked. We were able to track down the owners to the working phones and return them.

(Returned Items YouTube Playlist)

Some people have mentioned that we should strip the gold, but in talking with others who have attempted, the chemicals are really toxic and the effort actually isn't worth it at the current gold prices. As such, we throw most of the phones away.
What do you do with all the sunglasses you find?
Of the 400+ sunglasses we've found, only 20 or so of them have been worth saving.

Some we have given away and have even traded for ice cream. (watch here)

We now have a nice selection at the house and in the cars. Let's just say we are never searching for a pair of sunglasses to wear these days.

The rest we've thrown away.
What do you do with all the other stuff you find?
Most of the tires, metal, batteries and electronics are recycled.

Keys, wallets, phones and anything else we can track down their owners, we return.

If we can clearly identify items we've found might be associated with a crime, or if required by law, we call local law enforcement.

Everything else is usually tossed in a local dumpster or garbage can.
What's the oldest thing you've ever found?
We found an old horse drawn wagon from the late 1800s in the Willamette River by the Sellwood Bridge in Portland Oregon (watch here), and a late 1800s Railroad Lantern in the Deschutes River in Bend Oregon (watch here).
How long can you dive for?
It really depends on the size of your tank, how deep you dive, and how heavy of a breather you are.

We normally use 80 cubic foot air cylinders with 3300 psi each.

For each video we normally dive just one tank as we tend to always get enough footage for a great video.

Our normal time in water is 40-50 minutes 0-40 feet deep with plenty of laughs and interaction in-between.

When we dive to deeper depths like 100 feet, our dives are normally 20-25 minutes.
How do you become a diver?
Google local dive shops in your area and look for one with good reviews is the best place to start. Normally it will cost $400-$500 for Open Water Diver certification.

Find out which world-wide certification agency they use such as PADI, SSI, SDI or NAUI to name a few.

Types of Scuba Certifications
  -Open Water Diver
  -Advanced Open Water Diver
  -Rescue Diver
  -Master Scuba Diver
  -Divemaster
  -Adaptive Support Diver
  -Adventure Diver
  -Scuba Diver
  -Assistant Instructor

If you are in Central Oregon, check out CentralOregonDiving.com and Sarah will take good care of you.
What drysuit are you diving with?
Currently a Diving Concepts drysuit, but the company went out of business in 2013 so it'll be hard to get your hands on one.

Looking for a drysuit sponsor if anybody has a hookup, do send them our way.
How long have you been diving?
Jared started diving in 2006. Kristin was supposed to take the certification class, but kinda chickened out and has never been diving.
